This black and white printed cartoon relates to an error in the Latin text around a coin depicted on the mosaic floor in a corridor of the Bank of England. The mosaic floor was created by Boris Anrep. The spelling error was noticed in 1933 and later corrected.
The cartoon was originally published in The Dark Horse.
The text reads: 'Oy you blokes' Ars longa vita brevis I'd ave you remember; if you don't get on the job, there'll be no quid pro quo on Friday night.'
