Chujo is the typical mask of a young man. He is in deep grief and has furrows in the middle of his forehead. The painted high eyebrows and blackened teeth, which are peculiar to aristocrats and often seen in female masks, suggest that he is a high-ranking aristocrat. The mask is worn by a handsome young nobleman as well as by an aristocratic warrior of the Heike clan who dies on the battlefield.
