As the name indicates, it is a black face Okina. It appears on the stage after Hakushiki (white)-jo. It has implanted coarse hairs for the eyebrows and beard. It laughs, showing its teeth. In contrast to the graceful looks of Hakushiki-jo, Kokushiki-jo has unsophisticated, powerful looks.
