There are two forms of Kishin (fierce god) masks: “ah” mask with open mouth and “un” mask with closed mouth. A typical “ah” mask is Tobide.O-tobide is said to depict the scene of Sugawara no Michizane (Aristocrat-turned god of curse) spitting pomegranate seeds. The mask is used for the role of a thunder god or Zao-gongen (Buddhism patron god).
