“Sometimes I see beautiful rays of sunshine coming through the clouds. I would like to describe the clouds of the Netherlands, like so many Dutch painters have been trying.
Carel Willink’s clouds contain the fear of the end of the world. There are no living creatures in these beautiful landscapes. In his paintings, people show up at the canvas. However, the situation is frozen. I feel a similarity between Carel Willink’s work and mine. But in my world there is breathing. That’s where the movement starts.” – Shusaku Takeuchi
