According to a note from the donor Elaine Lockett: "The cradle was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rogers of Warwood Farm, north of the [Morton] Arboretum, for their first childm Lester Rogers, born in 1892. When Mrs. Rogers sold the farm and was getting rid of all the furniture, I was pregnant and asked if I could buy the cradle. Mrs. Rogers was very happy that I wanted it so she gave it to me. That was in 1946 and both my daughter, Sherry, and son, Walter, used the cradle."
