This sash is ‘Kakeshita-obi’ which is traditionally worn on a kimono beneath the Uchikake outer garment. It has a gold embroidery pattern of bamboo on the black velvet, on which butterflies fluttering around the flowering peonies are expressed in applique and embroidery. The pattern is repeated in a simple manner, but its color arrangement is varied. This rich color variation makes this piece more gorgeous.
