Occupied Land_Songhyeondong 48-1

Hyungjin Park

Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism

Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism
Seoul, South Korea

This is an artist’s observation of the Songhyeondong lot when it was hidden by the tall stone wall. Songhyeon(松峴), named after its pine trees, was a hill located next to Gyeongbokgung Palace; the land ownership changed many times and was abandoned indefinitely. Hyungjin Park brings the reeds and grasses that grew on the abandoned lot through the repetition of lines. The work encourages us to think about the future of ‘Land Urbanism’ through Park’s artwork at Songhyeondong 48-1, which everyone now owns.
