Official Regulations of the Offices under the Department of the Royal Household

This book records the history and rules of the Department of the Royal Household which undertook the administrative affairs of the royal and imperial household during the end of Joseon dynasty and the Korean Empire era. In particular, it focuses on the official regulations which were enacted in September 1906. Until then, the distinction between state and royal household affairs was not clear in the administration of Joseon dynasty. The Reforms of 1894, however, restructured the system by detaching the palace apparatus from government administrations, incorporating the former under the Department of the Royal Household, the latter under the State Council.
