Rhoda DeGarmo (1798?-1873) was an ardent anti-slavery advocate, temperance worker, suffragist, Quaker, and friend of the Anthony family. The DeGarmo farm, which was adjacent to the Anthony's in Gates, NY, was a documented stop on the Underground Railroad, providing refuge for enslaved persons fleeing to Canada. In her 70s, Rhoda DeGarmo was one of fourteen women who voted alongside Susan B Anthony i Rochester, NY, in 1872. (National Susan B Anthony Museum & House Collection, a gift from the Watkeys family)
