Águeda, Portugal

Red-figured small oinochoe with trilobate mouth. The painting is, in some points, visibly faded, as the result of its poor conservation over time. The illustration presents what seems to be a dove (or any other bird of the Columbidae family) in profile, with open wings and the body partially painted in white. The majority of the white ink vanished and traces of it are only visible in the neck, the head and the lower part of wings. The plumage of the wings is bordered by well-defined black lines and dotted with black and white ink. The beak and nostrils are well designed. The eye is a simple black dot. On the left of the animal, downwards, there is a vegetal motif with three stylized branches. Above, on the same side, what could have been a stylized fig leaf or a bunch of grapes has almost completely vanished. The illustration is bordered by a frame in the colour of the clay and with black dots, which is also found in other vessels of the same period that has the same form.
