In and around the Indian Ocean community “hersi” amulet necklaces are used as a form of adornment and protection. The necklaces features amber beads and a silver alloy amulet box embellished with floral and leaf designs with three conical studs. “Hersi” means protection and it’s the purpose of these necklaces to promote health and well-being through the Quranic verses they carry.
