Occasionally GE business took Steinmetz out of Schenectady. In 1895, Steinmetz rode on the "Maid of the Mist" when he went to Niagara Falls to design the high-voltage power transmission line between the Niagara Falls hydroelectric station and Buffalo. The "Maid of the Mist" in operation since 1846, is one of the country's oldest tourist attractions. Pictured, from left to right, are GE engineers Eskil Berg, Charles Steinmetz, Ernst Berg, and Langdon Gibson.
