A special thematic unit of Križanić's oeuvre consists of anti-fascist caricatures with a bold approach against destructive totalitarian ideologies. This caricature, published in "Politika" on August 4, 1940, also belongs to that cycle. In a review of the war events in Europe, the artist summarizes the socio-political ambience of the world before the new world war. The spread of fascism posed a great danger to peace and stability, and the democratic world did nothing to stand in its way. Cynicism, selfishness and short-sightedness are ridiculed here. The narrowmindedness of so - called democratic world turned exclusively to its own interests: the gathered greats of world philosophy and literature, Voltaire, Dostoevsky and Nietzsche, conclude that in the race of world forces for power, only one who will suffer is a man.
