中央の滝は灌漑（かんがい）用水のために人工的に作られ、大滝とよばれました。滝の上流の流れが穏やかだったことからその名がついた音無川は、石神井（しゃくじい）川の下流の呼称で、飛鳥山と王子稲荷社の間を流れて隅田川に注ぎます。
