This note, with Giuseppe Verdi's half bust, is called "Verdi I ° Tipo". In 1962 it began the tradition of reproducing the portrait of great Italian characters on the front of the banknotes, with the "Illustrious Men" series. On the front, the Verdi's effigy is in gray monochrome, in great contrast with the polychrome inscriptions in the center, which clearly show the value in numbers and letters, the Governor and the Cashier's signatures and the large vermilion mark with the head of Medusa.
