“Origami crane-glazed incense burners” are pieces with the ash of origami cranes added to their glaze. In Hiroshima, talk of origami cranes immediately calls to mind the cranes sent to the Peace Park from all over the world. These cranes were burnt in the Miyajima Misen Daiponsan Daishoin temple as a prayer for peace. Koya Yamane used the ashes of the burnt cranes, so that the prayers for peace would also be in the ceramics. The image of an origami crane and a crane flapping its open wings is often expressed in white porcelain.
