Osnovčite skirt

Woven from wool and composed of two long, rectangular panels, so that it can be wrapped around the body. The upper edge hemmed, with a cord of twined green and dark blue wool drawn through the hem. The other edges trimmed with pink thread. The skirt also trimmed with horizontal and vertical broad and narrow ribbons of brown, green, dark blue and pink colors, creating two squares, a big one and a small one, which intersect each other. An integral part of the traditional women’s dress. Worn together with a tunic of rolled wool. Woven before World War II by Smiljka Petković, born at Topolnica in 1897.This type of skirt fell into disuse in the mid-20th century. Home handwork; woven.
