This painting is loaded with iconography. The center of the composition depicts the figure of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception with the Infant Jesus in her arms. The dove of the Holy Spirit appears above them and the canvas is crowned by a depiction of God the Father. The scene is surrounded by clouds with angels among them, looking down on the fight between Saint Michael the Archangel and Lucifer. Saint Michael is shown wearing the armor of a Roman general, brandishing a sword in his right hand and holding a shield high with his left, while Lucifer retreats, protecting his face with his left hand. The scene represents the Holy Trinity with the central image of the Immaculate Conception and the fight between good and evil at her feet. Depicted in a heavenly setting, the scene is bathed from top to bottom with the light radiating from God the Father. The artist is unknown, but the piece is produced in the pictorial style of Luca Giordano.
