The Blk Mind Jockeys emerged as a group of young writers in the Free Southern Theater's (FST) drama and writing workshops. The Blk Mind Jockeys tended to create poetry more than any other genre, and their works were read, discussed, and criticized at weekly workshops. This group looked at FST’s central dilemmas in reverse; that is, rather than asking how the theater could transform and empower audiences, they asked how audiences could transform the theater. This flyer of the Blk Mind Jockeys demonstrates the interconnectedness between the FST, Nkombo, and BLKARTSOUTH.
