Originally from the Netherlands, Henk Pander was a child during WWII. Since immigrating to the PNW in 1965, he has become one of the region's most renowned artists. This series of large format watercolor and pen & ink studies deals with an aspect of Pander’s own war memory with a focus on the Liberty Ships--, which delivered essential supplies for survival both during and after the war--, and the people of Vanport who built them.
In 2018, the Vanport Mosaic presented the exhibit ""Artworks of Henk Pander: War Memories, Liberty Ships, and the Climate Refugees of Vanport"" as part of the 3rd Vanport Mosaic Festival."
