Using the connected ten panels as one large screen, this masterpiece depicts dozens of geese flying into the sky or roaming on the ground against a background of reeds on a hill and the moon in the sky. The round heads of the geese are emphasized with a technique using natural coloring instead of outlining. The tenth panel includes a phrase derived from part of the writings of Yang Hu (羊祜, 221-278) and Sun Chu (孫楚, 221-294) of Qin dynasty China. Judging from the last part of the phrase “A subject Yang Gi-hun painted with respect,”it is presumed that this folding screen was dedicated to Emperor Gojong.
