Pair of lace lappets. In fine Brussels bobbin lace. The main parts of the design are worked in cloth and half stitches, with raised and woven outlines, and the lappets have a large variety of stitches including Drochel net used in the background. Eight different patterns are used in groundwork with a further four filling stitches in flower heads.

Rococo design of three vertically arranged cartouches enclose floral sprigs and leaves. Scrolls of leaves and flowerhead link the cartouches and form the outer slightly scalloped edges of the lappets. Both lappets have strips (1.75 inches wide) of earlier Brussels lace attached to the top edge.
