Panther Seizing a Stag

Antoine-Louis Barye, a French sculptor born in Paris, is renowned for his work as an animalier, or 'sculptor of animals.' He possessed a unique talent for rendering dynamic tension and exact anatomical detail in bronze. He also had an innate ability to capture the behaviors and muscular structure of animals. In this dramatic work, the stag has fallen victim to the panther, who brings down the larger creature with his strong jaws and massive paw.
