A watercolour design for a bedding parterre by Matthew Ball with a photograph of the executed scheme at Stagenhoe Park in Hertfordshire. Undated, but perhaps c.1870. Ball (1817-1905) was the Head Gardener to Lord Templemore at Stagenhoe for many years. From an archive of photographs and garden plans associated with Matthew Ball and Stagenhoe Park donated by Anthony Paice.
