Ng Yuen-wa started to paint since she was three. In 1985, she started to learn lithography. In 1988, she entered the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art and got a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in lithography. She received a number of awards including Fellowship for Artistic Development from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the First Prizewinner of Olympic Arts and Sport Contest 2000 and the Prize of Ninth Chinese Fine Arts Exhibition. Her works have been owned by private collectors, museums and institutions in Hong Kong, China and overseas such as the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Hong Kong Economic and Trade offices in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Brussels and Geneva, United Airline. Ng Yuen-wa believes that lithograph images are lively and carefree. The transparent colour layers combine aesthetic qualities of free-hand painting and printing which forms a unique kind of artistic expression in her eyes. Party with Candle Light and Evening of the Happy Valley are a profound exemplification of Ng’s artistic taste and distinctive techniques on lithography.
