The Century Guild's monogram (see William Morris Gallery A204iii), usually printed on publications such as the 'Hobby Horse' periodical, has also been incorporated into this fabric, which was designed by one of the Guild's founders, Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo. The letters 'C' and 'G', one enveloping the other, can be picked out amongst the sinuous forms of flowers and peacocks. This vibrant colourway is one of a number made in this design, including a rich red chintz and a more muted orange, turquoise and pink cretonne.
