Oval pen box with a hinged domed lid. Inside are compartments for an inkwell and writing implements. Brass mounts surround the edges of the lid and body. The box is made of white paste, covered with white slip and decorated under transparent glaze in cobalt blue, turquoise and black. Dotted vertical bands divide the body into panels that each contain a pointed lobed cartouche filled with tiny flowers and leafy stems painted in cobalt blue on a white ground. On the lid are similar cartouches. The flat top of the lid is painted blue. The interior compartments of the box are decorated with flowers and leaves.
