Peruvian Pottery

One of twenty-five selected specimens of pre-Columbian Peruvian polychrome pottery from the Museum of Anthropology in Lima, Julio C. Tello, Director. Double spouted water jar made of clay with the image of a face at the large spout with a protruding nose, arms painted on the front, a pattern of animal figures throughout the rest. Two spouts at the top, one wider than the others with a cross bar handle. Presented to FDR by His Excellency Manuel Prado, President of the Republic of Peru, on the occasion of his visit to the United States in 1942. FDR Library Museum Collection, MO 1942.348.85.
