A contemporary digital print showing the famous photograph taken by Arthur Mole and John Thomas in 1918 at Camp Dodge in Des Moines, IA. Mole and Dodge made many of these photographs, with subjects such as the Liberty Bell and the American Eagle. This particular example employed 18000 servicemen on a "blistering" hot day. Records say that many fainted. Taken as a promotion for war bonds, the photograph was not used for that.
