The Barker A'Cappella Girls Octette, a group of nine students from the Albert Wicker School debuted in 1941. This image depicts these 13-to-15 year old girls girls along with their manager, Walter J. Barkley. They won several state contests, received accolades throughout the Gulf Coast, and hosted a 15-minute weekly program on CBS affiliate WWL radio.
