Santiago Ramón y Cajal became Professor of Histology and Pathological Anatomy in the Faculty of Medicine at Madrid's Central University, after Don Aureliano Maestre de San Juan. This photograph of students and professors also shows Cajal giving a lecture to students, some of whom would go on to become his pupils.
