Tony Hawk (born 1968) is one of the most recognized skateboarders in the world. Hawk has probably done more to legitimize the sport than any other boarder before him. He helps fund, through his Tony Hawk Foundation, skateboard parks in underprivileged areas around the country. Hawk is the holder of the record for the first recorded "900" in which a boarder spins 900 degrees in the air and lands back on his or her board, facing the other direction. He holds other boarding records as well.
