The Associated Press (AP), founded in 1846, is an American news agency, headquartered in New York. A non-profit cooperative, the AP is owned by its contributing newspapers, radio stations, and television stations in the United States. Represented in over 1700 newspapers, the AP also contributes stories to subscribers all over the world. The agency's photo library holds over ten million photographs, showing both history-making and everyday global images.
