Photographic lobby still for the Hindi film 'Madari', released in the year 1959.
The still shows a setting of a dungeon or a cave featuring three male characters. On the left of the frame, a man, dressed in an animal print garment is standing on a circular rock with his legs and arms stretched out open with a devilish laugh on his face. In the centre of the frame in the foreground, there is a small fire burning with human skulls, pots and small vessels around it. The props make it look like a set up for black magic. Right behind the props in the background is the second male character, dressed in an embellished jacket and trousers and is angrily looking in the direction of the man on the left. The third male character is tied to a pole, towards the extreme right of the frame. He is dressed in a 'sherwani' and 'churidar' and is hands are tied with a rope behind the pole. In the background towards the right, there is a flight of stairs.
On the bottom border, starting from the left, first comes 'RATAN picture's' and under this text is an illustration of a snake charmer's flute, a skull and a bone. Next to this is the name of the film 'Madari' (English). Right under the name of the film, from the left, first comes 'PRODUCED BY RATAN', next to this is 'SPECIAL EFFECTS', nextl line; '& DIRECTION'. This is followed by 'BABUBHAI MISTRY'. Next to this is 'MUSIC', followed by 'KALYANJI ANANDJI'. In the end is the name of the film in Devnagri script. On the extreme right of the bottom border, next to the name of the film in English, there is an illustration of two dancing girls, a curtain and a sturcture.
