Children's or nursery paper with six scenes from "Pilgrim's Progress". Each is enclosed in foliated cartouche frames in two horizontal rows of three scenes each. Intaglio printed in sepia tones on machine-made ungrounded paper.
Provenance: Found in a closet of Witherall House, King's Highway, Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Built in late 18th or early 19th century. Paper probably unused portion of main parlor wallpaper. Sample cut from partial roll which is stored separately.
