The deceased earthly king Sethos I, wearing ceremonial dress with the nemes headcloth and diadem, stands before Osiris, who, as ruler of the underworld, is clad in the white wrappings of a mummy. Osiris holds the crook and flail, the insignia of his power. A headcloth such as the pharaohs wear signifies his status as king, while the characteristic Atef crown worn over the headcloth marks his connection to the underworld.
