Pine Trees and Streams

Tang Jun, courtesy name Shigeng, is a painter active in the early Qing dynasty. He was born in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. He inherits his family style of painting flowers and bamboos, known for the comely brushworks. His landscape paintings are modeled on Cai Yuan at first, and then he becomes a pupil of Wang Hui, one of “Four Wangs”, turning to a style of beautiful brushstrokes with simple colors. In this painting, you can see continuous mountains, with pine trees on the top, literati traveling around. This is one of Tang Jun’s greatest blue-and-green landscape paintings.
