Produced in the territory of today's Belgium, in the Liège region, between 1790-1825.
This type of pistols was widely available, inexpensive and sufficiently robust to be used for military purposes. It was sold to anyone who was interested, both private and institutional clients: navy and armed forces in the Netherlands, northern and western Germany (it was mentioned as the prescribed pistol of the Badenian cavalry around 1820), etc. There were reports about the pistol being used in places so remote from Belgium as America (e.g. the 1812 war, California until about 1830), or the Far East (the British East India Company).
