Skull recovered during building works at the site of the now 'Yarmouth Stores' and Great Yarmouth Fire Station on the junction of South Quay and Friars Lane. Discovered in 1971 during the construction of the Fire Station. This was found to be a mass grave of male bodies ranging from teenagers to elderly men resident at the Friary who fell victim to the Plague of 1348/49. During the plague, an estimated 7,000 people out of an a population of 10,000 resident to the town died.
