This poster, published by the pro-German DPS, originates from the campaigning time of the 23 October 1955 Saar referendum. It shows a Saarlandic miner wearing a French miner's helmet. The French state is symbolically represented as being supported by the miner's head. The "No" both constitutes a statement against the domination of France as well as a recommendation for the voting decision, namely to answer "No" in the Saar statute referendum.
