(by air) SE of Chalchihuite. Mun. Chalchihuite. alt. 2500-3000 m. 23°24'30"N, 103°45'W BOSQUE DE ENCINO. Grazed, rocky, E facing slopes on SE end of Sierra Prieta. woodland of Quercus, Arcto- staphylos, with Pinus teocote f. macrocarpa and Pseudo- tsuga menziesii present only above 2900 m. on the highest ridges in the area. Rare, at lower elevations. Erect shrub or small tree, of several straight-stemmed erect trunks from base.
