In the 1950s, planners and industry began rationalizing and introducing new standards for construction. New modular methods of construction were developed that are still standard today: In this style of construction, large structural members are prefabricated and then assembled on the construction site. Architect Robert Lenz created a construction kit consisting of prefabricated parts which could be assembled to build different types of buildings, just like on the actual construction site: An exemplary modern construction kit of which only a few were produced.
