In Tinker Toys's (the company) early years, it made several toys in addition to Tinkertoys (the name of the construction set). The firm offered several dolls, figures, and sets made of colorfully painted wooden parts. Simple movements and bright colors captured a child's attention, and the stylized design of the toys required a child to use her imagination. The Tinker figures included Tom, Belle, Bunny, Lanky, Siren, Puppy, and others, like this set of wooden beads. The company advertised the beads in a jar with a jaunty jingle: "In jars of glass all showing thru are Tinker Beads for Sis and you; Their dainty colors always last, And here's a cord to string them fast."
