Small plummet, manufactured from a dark gray to black vesicular basalt, generally cone shaped. Approximately 1 cm from the widest end is a groove with a u-shaped cross-section that has been carved into the surface around the circumference. Field notes indicate that this plummet was among the numerous artifacts recovered from the cremation pit of a bighorn sheep located in a compound wall foundation trench at the site of Pueblo Grande. Pueblo Grande was a large village located at the headgates of a major canal system. Occupied as early as AD 500, the site reached its greatest extent during the Classic Period.
