The graphic artwork of Marek Zajko, made using the drypoint technique, is a three-part panoramic composition of forms, which feature the transformed shape of the human head. The dark silhouettes contrasting with the white of the unprinted background are filled with a texture of criss-crossing lines, made vigorously with a drypoint needle moving in many different directions. Similarity to the shape of a human head is based solely on the shape of forms, although a lack of anatomical details or facial features does not reduce this likeness. The forms seem to be archetypes of human physiognomy distilled from the surroundings, which escape any explicit definitions, as they are still undergoing the process of taking shape. [F. Pręgowski]
