keys in the morning they are to be returned in the same manner as received direct to the managers for the time being In the event of the member of the Force permanently in Charge leaving his station with a probability of not returning in time to take over the keys he will place his most reliable subordinates in charge and inform the Bank Manager accordingly. It is of the utmost importance that these arrangements be kept from the knowledge of the public, otherwise the safety and object of the system may be frustrated. Whilst the keys are under the charge of the Police they must be very careful not to be drawn into any street brawl and if possible to be never less than two together, they should also keep in mind the outlaws tactics at Jerilderie and not be trapped in a similar manner. They must not expect the outlaws to enter the town boldly but be on the alert for their coming in disguise and at unreasonable hours This memo may be handed to the Bank Manager for perusal and any objections made by the gentleman to these arrangements will be reported to me. Signed C. H. Nicolson A.C. Police PS the Police are not to demand the keys but merely to take charge of them at the Bankers request
