Made at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, this German-made Polyphon music box is interesting for more than its fascinating mechanism. Originally operating with a 2-krajcár coin, the music box could take different discs, which included the Pan-Slavic song “Hej slovane!” later the national anthem of Yugoslavia, and according to Museum legend, it originally stood in a brothel in Magyar utca. After the establishment was closed down in 1950, the Budapest Council gave the music box to the Museum.
