Painter, graphic artist and set designer, Pencho Georgiev is one of the emblematic figures of Modern Bulgarian art in the 1920s and 1930s.
He studied at the Decorative Arts Department of National Academy of Art, Sofia, from which he graduated in 1925. His works were featured in exhibitions organized by the Rodno Izkustvo (Native Art) association of Bulgarian artists. His early paintings and drawings are an expression of the ideas of national artistic identity.
