In 1902, Port Adelaide took the field in the black and white jerseys that came to identify them as' The Magpies'. Port Adelaide defeated Sturt to win the 1910 South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Grand Final, its sixth premiership. Port Adelaide would later prevail over Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval to be crowned Champions of Australia for a second time. The Australian Rules football code was particularly popular in South Australia. The Magpies evolved into Port Power (competing in the national league) and has always had a passionate and strongly parochial fan base, binding the Port Adelaide community during tough times.
